I was in college studing art when I got a callfrom a friend to come down and see "this guy". I drove down to the dealership to watch "that guy" putting striping on these funny little trucks that were being imported.....I think they were called Datsuns.Strange looking man with a punk looking hat and earring that was a paint brush. He didnt speak when I asked questions ,so I just watched. But it didnt take long for the light to go on......I can do this! I have been drawing hot rods and weirdo's since 3rd grade! and coming from a gearhead family this was just the tic ket. After 30 yrs of pinstriping and custom work I read about "that guy" In rod and custom. And after all that time I learned that Von Dutch's real name was Kenneth Howard. My father's name was Kenneth Howard.Strange couincidence to me.Some have told me Dutch did or did not travel to the midwest. But regardless of who that man was....The imagine of Von Dutch led me to a long and enjoyable proffession. I tip my "hat" to "that man". Terrance"Dutch" Howard
